Squaring the Square
Surprisingly, it is possible to dissect a square into a number of smaller squares, all of different sizes. Here's the smallest known example of such a dissection:
Like the tessellating polyomino backgrounds, this image was produced using SAS DSGI software.
By using viewports, we can add an image to the square of our choice. The image is automatically scaled to the correct size. We can use this technique repeatedly to add multiple images, each one appropriately scaled.
